Monthly Programs
Ages 5 – 13
Each month, this group will meet on a Saturday or Sunday from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Our monthly programs span a total of 8 sessions from August to May. We will not meet during the months of December and January while Down To Earth is on winter break. Although we meet less frequently than the weekly program, much of the same material will be covered!
Coyote mentoring
We strive to bring an ancient and unique teaching method to Utah called “Coyote Mentoring,” which leads the child through a lesson in an organic and free-flow manner that feels more open-ended than typical school lessons.
Nature skills
We will cover topics such as local edible and medicinal plants, applying the scientific method, knot tying and cordage making, friction fire, sensory awareness, wildlife interactions, and much more.

Invisible school
In the “invisible school” concept, we use sneaky teaching methods such as games and fun adventures in the woods to help students learn! Even though we might teach a handful of things on any given day, our hope is that students don’t feel like they are in school - they just know they’re having a blast!

Where do we teach?
Crestwood Park is home to our programs. The park provides everything we need, from hiking trails to open fields, bathrooms, a fire grill, and even a creek. On a lucky day, we might spot a fox, a red-tailed hawk, pocket gophers, and more!
